The refining heart of the programme is built on established process technology from recognised international licensors. The exotic-sounding idea, fuel from waste, is delivered through a chain of steps each of which is individually proven.

The programme is designed to produce two final products. The first is RD100 renewable diesel, a drop-in fuel that existing engines and infrastructure accept without modification. The second is sustainable aviation fuel, made on a certified pathway for a sector with firm decarbonisation commitments and few alternatives.
The process is engineered to waste very little. Biochar from conversion, renewable naphtha from fractionation, and metals recovered in pre-treatment each carry their own value. Product grades and volumes are design targets, confirmed through the independent studies, the engineering and commissioning.
