01Programme

An integrated programme, built phase by phase.

RD100 joins the two halves of a single national problem. It gathers the waste that Greater Accra struggles to manage, and it converts that waste into the kind of fuel the country presently imports. It is engineered to grow in careful, financeable steps.

01.2The approach

Measured, not rushed.

Large infrastructure earns trust by proving itself. RD100 is therefore built in three phases. The foundation phase establishes the collection network, the transfer stations and the first refining capacity. Later phases extend that capacity across the catchment as delivery matures, and each phase is confirmed on its own merits before it proceeds.

This discipline is deliberate. Capacities, timing and scope advance with the independent studies, the engineering and the financing. Nothing is committed ahead of the evidence, and each phase stands on the one before it.

Phase 1
Foundation. Initial capacity in the order of 1,200 tonnes per day, and the operating spine for everything that follows.
Phase 2
Expansion. Scaling toward mid-programme capacity as the catchment network matures.
Phase 3
Full programme. Toward a design envelope of up to about 4,000 tonnes per day.
Basis
Directional. Confirmed phase by phase with the independent studies.

—The shape of it

One programme, several fronts, one standard.

Collection, logistics, refining and the environmental and social work advance together, each held to the same international standard. The pages that follow set out the parts in turn.
